Audrey Tautou: “The most pleasant thing is to give a person not things, but memories of something lived together”
I doubt myself every minute. But after all, self-doubt is precisely what develops us. Is not it?
But I never wanted to play hide and seek. If people want to be together, they need to give up ambiguities, from ambiguous words and deeds.
My parents instilled a valuable quality – hard work. I can work very hard and for a long time, because I feel my responsibility for the result.
I’m not as crazy as it seems to those who used to judge me by Amelie. And I always try to keep control over the situation, to keep myself in hand, to control. I’m quite a serious person who tries to live the ordinary life of ordinary people.
In my films, I always show that I can be a completely different person, but in part all the same I remain myself.
In fact, I wanted to become a primatologist – I wanted to study monkeys. I was terribly attracted to the prospect of living in the jungle, studying gorillas – I would have liked it.
I adore my work and I will never leave it. But I’m happy to take time and something else. I take a good photo, I love modern art, painting, drawing. I like traveling very much – this is something that I need constantly, to leave from time to time where my eyes look.
The cinema is beautiful. It’s wonderful that it is in our lives, but it’s not life at all. Even if you imagine that culture is an integral part of society, I do not believe that actors are of vital importance. Any surgeon is more important than me. We are given more importance than we deserve.
The most pleasant thing is to give a person not things, but memories of something lived together.
Delicacy and insensitivity are those things that I especially appreciate in people. I want them to be in me in every way.
