News Rio 2016: silver from Ukrainian gymnast
Ukrainian gymnast Oleg Verniaiev won a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Rio-de-Janeiro in 2016.
The Ukrainian was the leader in all exercises, but on the crossbar judge clearly did not add points to him. He was the best in exercises on rings and parallel bars, took second place in the exercise on the horse and vault, was fifth in the floor exercise and twelfth in the exercise on the crossbar. To the winner Koheyu Utimura he lost only 0.1 points. The bronze medal went to the Max Whitlock from the UK.
Oleg has won first place in the qualifying competition on August 6 and in the fight against 23 athletes from 16 countries came close to confirm the result.
Silver medal from Vernyaev has became the third medal for Ukraine at the Olympics-2016.
Moreover, Vernyaev’s success in this difficult discipline is the best result for Ukraine in the history of independence. In previous years, the best Ukrainian athlet was Alexander Beres at the Olympics 2000 in Sydney.

“Such program, that Oleg has, nobody in the world has. The guy is very modest, well-mannered and kind. He gathered all the positive qualities that are in a human. It is a rarity. His fame didn’t change him. He respects all , because he is very well brought up.”
Oleg Verniaiev today is quadruple European champion and two-time world champion. At the 2012 Olympics in London, Oleg Verniaiev took 4th place in the team and 11th in the individual competition.
