Donatella Versace founds a scholarship
It will be the help to students of the Faculty of Fashion of Central Saint Martins.
Donatella Versace doesn’t engage in charitable activities for the first time. She is a patron of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. It is worth remembering that in 2010 Donatella Versace won the H1 Do Something Awards for the Do Something With Style Award. With the help of this project, children could try themselves in the role of designers and create bags, whose sales proceeds went to the needs of Starlight and the ONE Foundations.
What prompted Donatella to set up her own scholarship? The cause was the anniversary of the murder of her brother Gianni Versace. Twenty years ago, Gianni was killed on the threshold of his house by 28-year-old Andrew Phillip Cunanan. There wasn’t a clear reasons for the murder of the great couturier.
Gianni Versace Scholarship was created to provide master’s training at the Central Saint Martins College.
“Central Saint Martins trains and trains the best of the best in fashion world. Many of their graduates have come to work in my brand for many years. I have always been a supporter of young talents, and I am happy to announce that we founded an annual scholarship in honor of the 20th anniversary of the death of my brother Gianni. He was a visionary designer – and, honoring his memory, we want to nurture the creators of the future, ” – says Donatella Versace.
