Chester Bennington committed suicide
Vocalist of the band Linkin Park, Chester Bennington, committed suicide.
The tragedy occurred on Thursday, July 20, on the birthday of a close friend of the musician Chris Cornell, who brought scores to life in May this year. He was 41 years old. Chester Bennington, one of the most famous rock musicians of his time, faced many difficulties for his turbulent life. As a child, the musician survived violence, which later reflected not only on his self-confidence, but also gave rise to alcohol and drug addiction.
«It was hard for me in my childhood, in my youth, I was very scared and very lonely», — Chester Bennington told in an interview. Later, the musician always spoke openly about his problems, depression and addictions.
In 1998, Chester Bennington joined the rock band Linkin Park, which brought him worldwide fame. Linkin Park became the most successful nu-metal band. Their first album in 2000, «Hybrid Theory» is still one of the best-selling records. The main theme of the creativity of Linkin Park was denial and the desire to disappear, to escape from reality.
Despite world fame, Chester Bennington has repeatedly returned to alcohol and drug addiction. In an interview the musician confessed:
«It’s not cool to be an alcoholic. It’s not cool to be drunk and act like a goat. Left to take the path of recovery. Much of what I do is a reflection of what is happening to me in life».
The musician in one of his last interviews noted that he had not been drinking alcohol for six years. He was satisfied with his latest studio album «One More Light», and in July was supposed to go on a world tour.
