A new video of Jamala for the song “Sumuyu”
Ukrainian singer Jamala on September 7 presented a new video for the song “Sumuyu”.
The video was directed by Igor Stekolenko, who was also in charge of shooting other Jamala videos “I Believe in U”. Igor Stekolenko took more than 100 clips for both Ukrainian and foreign musicians. Among his clients you can see Ocean Elzy and Brutto.
Shooting the music video of Jamala for the song “Sumuyu” was held in Portugal. It was in the Algarve region in Praia da Faselia in the district of Albufeira and in the area of Casela Velha in Tavira district. It took 2 days to shoot the video. Jamala in the video sings on the ocean, rides in a big house on wheels. And also dances on the edge of a cliff in a light white dress.
Jamala was the author of music and words for the song “Sumuyu”. And the keyboardist Efim Chupakhin, drummer Sergey Balalaev, bass player Denis Moroz. Trumpeter Dmitry Bondarev and guitarist of the group Okean Elzy Vladimir Opsenitsa helped to record the new song to the singer.
“These songs, as often happens, reflect my inner state in the current period. I really love Audrey Tautou and Amelie. She became a classic, because many girls recognize themselves in the main character. She is terribly romantic and vulnerable, from every fleeting separation makes a real drama. She is filled with love and exaggerates, hyperbolizes any event of personal life. Sumuyu just about this “girl-Amelie.”
We had an incredible shooting clip. I am grateful to Igor Stekolenko for the original idea, for the fact that he did not film the lyrics of the song. It does not matter whether there is an audience nearby, my heroine sings the sunset and dawn, dances, composes, is in search. It overwhelms creativity. “
From a musical point of view, the Sumuyu single is an important and unusual experiment. I really wanted to keep alive the spark and emotion in the songs. I’m a little tired, because there’s a lot of similar music around. All use the same samples, music libraries, all have the same sound.
What was the peculiarity of working on these songs? The musicians first heard my demo record directly in the studio. We started creating the arrangement almost immediately, after the first listening. Do not rub the song to the holes, as sometimes happens, in search of the right sound, “- said Jamala.
