The success of Jourdan Dunn
Oscar-winning screenwriter and novelist John Irving said that from the first moment of birth everything is decided by a case. And Jourdan Dunn’s story confirms that. Before the fashion shows, covers and the title of one of the most successful black models alive, Jourdan Dunn was an ordinary 16-year-old girl, who was buying sunglasses at the «Primark». Modeling agent from Storm Management saw her and made an offer. Random shopping with a friend changed Jordan’s life.
She went to the casting, immediately hit the agency, then at the New York Fashion Week she starred at the Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren shows. After that she appeared at the cover of British Vogue.
Just one year after the beginning of a dizzying model career Jourdan Dunn won the title of «Best Model of the Year». For one year she had participated in more than 90th fashion shows. Also, Jourdan Dunn became the second black model, who took part at Prada fashion show. The first was Naomi Campbell in 1997.
Jourdan Dunn has participated in Givenchy, Emilio Pucci, Jean Paul Gaultier, Topshop, Gap, United Colors of Benetton, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue, Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Prada, Victoria’s Secret shows — and this isn’t a full list of model’s achievements. Jourdan Dun appeared at the covers of iD, Pop, Elle, Dazed & Confused, W, V Magazine, Teen Vogue, Sunday Times Style and Vogue. She took part in a photoshoot for a special issue of «Vogue All Black», which was dedicated to black models. In addition, she became the first black model, who entered the list of the richest models, according to Forbes with a fortune of $ 4 million. Besides modeling career, Jourdan Dunn is actively engaged in the issue of racism in the fashion industry.
This year, the British Fashion Council called Jourdan Dunn «Model of the Year». Olivier Rousteing presented the award to Jordan. This is the second prize of British Fashion Awards. Last year, Cara Delevingne won the title.
Jourdan Dunn isn’t only a successful model, but also a loving mother — she has a son Riley.
