Ukrainian Fashion Week: Poustovit, Yana Chervinska
Traditionally, the new season of Ukrainian Fashion Week was opened by designer Lilia Pustovit. In the new collection of the spring / summer 2018 season, Lilia Pustovit made the main emphasis on prints. For prints, drawings from cloth belts were used. The designer noted that these are elements of the Ukrainian national costume. It combines bright colors – blue, violet, red, black and white. However, these drawings are used not only as elements of the Ukrainian national costume. But also in the traditions of other peoples of the world, for example Berber ones.
On the podium, you could see the thin belts that develop on the move on the harnesses of dresses. In the genre of ties on the huge sleeves of stylized embroideries or in the form of a belt on raincoats and skirts.
The basis of each collection of Lilia Pustovit is a delicate silk dress. In the new season, the designer advises them to wear along with jackets and trench coats from a net and cotton. Dense mesh in the collection refers to a cotton canvas for embroidery. According to the idea, the grid, like every pixel print, is a matrix with information about the traditions of the Ukrainian nation.
The inspiration for the new collection of the Yana Chervinska brand of the spring / summer season 2018 was the Japanese Ama diver. They are also called women of the sea. They can dive without scuba gear and other underwater equipment in search of pearls, mollusks and valuable algae. In the images, the designer used the elements of their special costume. Fishing vests that turned into corsets with pockets, twisted tops at the outfits over a rubber suit, cotton fabrics that seemed to get wet and stuck together. In addition to flax and cotton in the collection, the designer also used the usual Ukrainian textures – floral coarse calico.
“I learned about the divers in the movie Ama-San at the Documentary Film Festival Docudays. Which is held in Ukraine with the support of the British Council. The film was shown in the Cinema House. Then I saw an interview with the director of the movie Claudia Varezhau. And it touched me so much that I found her on facebook and wrote her an enthusiastic letter. She answered me, and we agreed that I was taking her film as the basis of the collection, ” – Yana Chervinskaya noted.
