The main book novelty of the “Book Arsenal” 2018
In May, Ukrainian gloss Vogue presented the photo album Ukraine in Vogue – this is the history of the magazine in the best frames. The book was presented at the Book Arsenal.
In March 2018 Vogue UA magazine celebrated its fifth anniversary. By this date the team of Vogue UA specially prepared a photo album, the history of the magazine was obtained, collected in the best frames and memoirs of the editorial staff. In it – shooting for 2013-2018 in seven sections: covers, a new wave (new names that appeared due to Ukrainian Vogue), locations, art, color, romance and men. At the same time, Ukraine in Vogue is an honest diary about the life of Ukrainian Vogue, where the editors themselves recall successful and complex talks, interesting glides, surveys on the other side of the world, difficult interviews – and share the joy that they experience when they release a new issue.
Each shooting is more than just good photos: it’s a conversation with the reader about modern culture. For example, the main filming the January issue of 2017 – a report from a traditional Ukrainian feast Malanka that photographer Elizabeth Porodina filmed in the village Kryvorivnya Ivano-Frankivsk region, where for 60 years before director Sergei Parajanov took the most famous Ukrainian cinema in the world – “Shadows of Forgotten ancestors “. Strong covers often resemble movie – Parajanov, or Lars von Trier (Charlotte Gainsbourg muse director, became the heroine of the cover of the April issue of 2018), or Hitchcock (the heroine of Hitchcock’s most similar model Malgosha Bela in cover-shooting of the October issue 2017).
And sometimes they look like an improvisation – it was with the story that Chris Colles did for the cover of the Vogue UA in the month of 2017. On the frame, which eventually became the cover of the magazine – a lively, working moment: the legendary hairdresser Orbe straightens the hair of the top model Dautzen Croesus.
Summarizing the work on the pages of books is a good tradition in the Condé Nast family. So, American Vogue celebrated its 125th birthday with Vogue Covers book with Rihanna on the cover, and the British one with Vogue 100: A Century of Style with Linda Evangelista. On the cover of Ukraine in Vogue is one of the most popular Ukrainian models of Jan Godny in VITA KIN embroidered. This is a shot from the shooting of fashion director Vogue UA Julia Pelipas and British photographer Phil Poynter, made in March 2016. The shooting was conducted in the interiors of the National Academy of Arts and Architecture.
