The first teaser of the film about Alexander McQueen
One of these days in the network appeared the first teaser of documentary film about the famous British designer Alexander McQueen. Over the plot of the film, the directors Yang Bonot and Peter Ettugi worked. The plot of the film tells about the “painful, but inspiring” life of a British designer – about his work as an apprentice in the studio Anderson & Sheppard, the peak of his professional career in the 1990s and suicide committed in 2010.
The film included a series of interviews with close friends and members of the McQueen family. The documentary will also show footage from the designer’s archives, footage footage shots and fragments of the most iconic McQueen shows.
In the teasers of the film you can see the designer’s favorite techniques – skulls, butterflies, crosses. It is these one of the strongest symbols of Catholicism that have become the symbols for the Alexander McQueen brand. Skulls and skeletons symbolize the frailty of life. During his lifetime, Alexander McQueen diligently cultivated the theme of death and the afterlife. The collection of Dante 1996, which was shown in the Catholic Church (the Holy Cross in Spitalfields), to the sounds of the organ, he devoted precisely this philosophical theme. Images of skulls from Alexander McQueen could be found almost everywhere, as well as butterflies (in Catholics this insect is often depicted sitting on the arm of the infant Christ and is a symbol of the rebirth and resurrection of the soul). The most spectacular manifestation of the butterflies was the show in spring-summer 2001 – when the models freed an improvised podium, the walls of the box in the middle opened and millions of butterflies flew out of it.
The premiere of the McQueen documentary will be held April 22, 2018 at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Alexander McQueen after graduating from college worked first with Japanese designer Koji Tatsuno, then in Milan with Italian fashion designer Romeo Gilmi. In 1996 he was invited to the post of artistic director of the fashion house Givenchy. In 2001, he left this house and joined the Gucci Group.
In 2003, the first female flavor of Alexander McQueen Kingdom appeared, a year later the brand introduced its male version. Three years later, the designer showed the first collection of the McQ youth brand. In October 2005, the designer created a collection of sports shoes for the company Puma.
