It all started with the fact, that a designer-artist Angeles Tyusdey Bassin from Los Angeles began to receive letters from her fans, asking if she cooperates with Zara, it’s a little confused Angeles. All became clear when she noticed, that a well-known Spanish retailer uses her own design.
The girl started to place in the Instagram photos, comparing her works with Zara’s, and wrote: “I have said nothing about it until now. During all last year Zara copied my work. My lawyer got in touch with Zara, and they literally said, that I had no reason to, because I’m an independent artist, and they are a large corporation, and what I know about too few people. “
Well, then the designer from New York, Adam Kurtz, created his own collage, giving examples of plagiarism Zara. Deceived by the designers created a page on the Internet under the name Shop ZARA’s Art Theft Collection, which shows the stolen works with links to the pages of the authors, and encourage users to buy products directly from the founders. Bassin noted, that hired a new “aggressive” lawyer following the case.
The artists say, that the company has used their work to create a variety of badges, embroidery and prints on clothes.
“We were unpleasantly surprised to find that our creative work results were used illegally, – says Kurtz. – While some of these are quite simple works, representatives of Zara and its affiliated Bershka, Pull & Bear and Stradivarius did not even bother to make even minor changes. “
The owners of Zara announced the beginning of its own investigation and to suspend admission to the sale of the relevant goods. Today Bassin has already spent about $ 2,000 and is not going to stop.
