Scandal: why boycott Balenciaga
The last few days on the Web are actively discussing the scandal that occurred in the store Printemps in Paris, buyers Balenciaga fought in the queue. One of the eyewitnesses of the incident filmed the conflict on video, which later became viral. According to the user who uploaded, the conflict erupted because French buyers tried to bypass the queue, among which there were customers from China. In the course of the fight, as several witnesses have reported, the guards took the side of the French buyers, and the Chinese offered to leave and not return.
The user who uploaded the video called for a boycott of the brand.
After that, the brand apologized in the statement, saying: “Fashion House Balenciaga regrets the incident that occurred yesterday morning at a department store in Paris. The security forces immediately began to restore order. Balenciaga sincerely apologizes to the clients who were present at this conflict, and confirms that he treats all his clients with respect. ” Users were outraged by what they saw, and they urge not only to boycott the brand, which only two months ago transferred part of its production to China, but also retailers selling Balenciaga products in China.
Later details of the incident became known. In the queue for a pair of sneakers Balenciaga’s Triple S there was a fight. An elderly woman of Chinese nationality made a note to the five Albanians, who wanted to pass without waiting. One of the guys pushed her away, and the second one tried to hit. A son stood up for a woman. Immediately the guards of the French shop jumped and tried to calm him down. Albanians still managed to make a purchase without hindrance, and my mother and son were asked to retire and recommended that they never return to this store again.
Earlier in the center of the scandal was the Swedish retailer H & M. On the brand’s advertising photos the black boy was wearing a T-shirt with the inscription “The coolest monkey in the jungle.” Users instantly compared the color of the child’s skin and the inscription, accusing the brand of racism. H & M brought an official apology and took off T-shirts from the sale. In his official profile in Instagram, the brand published a photo with the words “We are listening”, thus announcing a new post.
“The incident was completely nonspecial, but it clearly shows how great our responsibility is as an international brand. We contacted people around the world to get feedback. Our attention to diversity issues is genuine, therefore we have appointed an international manager in this field, which will help us to take our work to a new level, “wrote a representative of H & M.
