Paris Haute Couture: Proenza Schouler, Chanel
Designers of the American brand Proenza Schouler Jack McColough and Lazaro Hernandez presented a couture collection in Paris. The new collection turned out to be a mix from the intersegment and main collections. Proenza Schouler is the first brand, that made a couture collection in a ready-to-wear format, which surprised the French public.
The collection is based on long dresses, skirts with asymmetrical cut, corsets, tops. It was not without open leather bustiers, deep cuts and lace inserts.
Traditionally, a couture collection Karl Lagerfeld showed in an unchanged place – Grand Palais. The scenery reminded of France 20s. A large area instead of the podium, the Eiffel Tower in the background and of course the luxurious couture outfits from the French Fashion House Chanel reminded of the greatness of the past.
The collection is based on traditional tweed jackets, suits, restrained silhouettes, elegant images, hats and an abundance of black. Also not without the favorite elements of the wardrobe Coco Chanel – dresses, voluminous coats and hats – pots. The second part of the show was held in a more romantic atmosphere. The models went to the catwalks in satin dresses with an emphasis on the waist and chest line, in dresses decorated with embroidery and feathers. And also in dresses – cases in dark shades with a floral decor.
The restraint of the collection confirms the ideology of the great Coco, that luxury should not be ostentatious.
After the show, the German designer Karl Lagerfeld received an award from the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo. The medal of the city of Paris is one of the highest French awards.
