NYFW: Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors
Traditionally, the next season of Fashion Week in New York was closed with fashion show by Mark Jacobs. The location for the fashion show was the building of the Arsenal of the Seventh Regiment on Park Avenue. 56 models came out to the sound of their own steps and rustle of dresses. Only in the final of the fashion show sounded aria – the soundtrack to the French film “Diva” in 1981, based on the novel of the same name by Daniel Odier.
In a written invitation to the fashion show, Mark Jacobs talked about his collection. He said that in the collection “rethink past seasons, which took place somewhere outside urban New York.” This year Mark Jacobs celebrates the 25th anniversary of his own brand.
In the new collection, Marc Jacobs decided to analyze his work over the past 25 years of his solo career. So on the podium he collected his best creations. Prints, lush fabrics of flowers, sports-style sandals, “banana” bags from the 90s, evening dresses strewn with sequins, braided tops made of beads with tassels. All the images in the collection were supplemented by huge silk turbans from the American artist Stephen Jones.
Creating a collection of spring / summer 2018 Michael Kors, took a course on the resort mood. The designer noted that the idea of his collection was to bring a relaxed summer mood to the urban story that he presented on the podium.
On the podium of Michael Kors it was possible to see the best traditions of the countries of Southeast Asia and Oceania. Among the images, references to sarongs and kimonos were traced. The relaxed style was embodied in beach dresses, long skirts, tops made of chiffon, flax and prints with palm trees.
