Nina Garcia – Editor in Chief of the American Elle
Nina Garcia became the new editor in chief of the American magazine Elle.
Her predecessor was Robbie Myers, who decided to leave her post after 17 years of work. To a new position, Nina Garcia will start on September 18.
“I want to strengthen the DNA of the brand. He is brave, audacious, provocative, democratic and innovative. I want to strengthen all these qualities, with which we associate Elle, “- said Nina Garcia.
Also, Nina Garcia promised to continue the tradition of Elle “to celebrate diversity in fashion and work closely with 46 international publications.”
“Nina is the perfect embodiment of Elle. She lives a busy life, she is interested in everything around, and she adores fashion, beauty, new technologies, art, travel, nature, women’s issues and how all this is interconnected. She is a strong personality and she will bring her energy, her unique sensitivity and style to Elle, a brand that she knows so well, ” – said Joanna Coles, executive director of content for Hearst Magazine.
Nina Garcia rightfully has the title of one of the greatest authorities in the world of fashion journalism. From 2000 to 2008, Nina Garcia worked as a fashion director for Elle. And from 2008 to 2012 she held a similar position in the American version of Marie Claire. After that, Nina Garcia took the post of Creative Director of the publication.
Nina Garcia is also one of the leading popular reality show Project Podium. In the program, young designers compete with each other for the title of the best in the design of clothing. Nina Garcia wrote several books on fashion – “A Little Black Book of Style”, “100 Ways of an Ideal Wardrobe” and “Strategy of Style”.
This is not the first personnel change in the world of authoritative fashion magazines. Earlier Edward Enninful became the editor-in-chief of the British Vogue. And earlier in September, Graydon Carter, longtime editor of Vanity Fair, announced his resignation. There are rumors that there will also be changes in the staff in such magazines as Hearst, and in Condé Nast and Harper’s Bazaar.
The first working day of Nina Garcia in Elle will begin on September 18. At the same time, the receiver of Nina Garcia in Marie Claire was not named.
