New collections from Simone Rocha and A.W.A.K.E.
Creating a collection of spring / summer 2018, the designer Simone Rocha turned to history. The designer has studied both the history of the evolution of her own brand and her own childhood memories. For example, on the podium you could see vintage porcelain dolls.
“I had these porcelain dolls in Victorian dresses, when I was a child. I used to like to run them down the staircase, so they ended up cracked. But I saved them, and now they again came in handy. My daughter often plays with my old dolls. I still like to sometimes look at my old dolls, look at their dresses, tiny shoes, ” – the designer shared.
In the collection of Simone Rocha you could see the abundance of white cotton dresses, frills, bulging sleeves, embroidery and references to the Victorian era. Puppet children’s outfits transformed into outfits for their grown-up owners.
Natalia Alaverdyan presented a new spring / summer 2018 collection for A.W.A.K.E. The designer shared her inspiration for her tall hats from Yemen. Many items for new collections Natalia Alaverdyan brought from travels.
Natalia Alaverdyan did not manage in the collection without recognizable elements. So on the podium you could see the male looks, turned into female silhouettes. For the new season, the designer decided to experiment and created real male looks. Skirts, jackets, blouses were presented in complex combinations of dense checkered fabric.
The main accent in the collection of Natalia Alaverdyan for A.W.A.K.E. became huge hats. According to the designer, in these hats she expressed her inner surrealist. Surrealism could be seen in belts with buckles in the form of full size human hands. It seemed that somebody hugs someone around the waist right on the podium.
