Met Gala Ball 2018
On May 7, New York hosted the annual charity ball of the Met Gala Costume Institute – 2018. This year, the theme of the ball was religion, namely Catholicism and its connection with fashion. Following the official event in the Metropolitan Museum will be an exhibition called Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination (“Celestial bodies: fashion and the Catholic imagination”). In total, the exhibition will include 50 outfits and accessories from the Vatican, thematic items from the museum’s archive and more than 150 outfits of different designers.
By tradition, the hostess of the evening was the chief editor of American Vogue Anna Wintour. Amal Clooney, Rihanna and Donatella Versace also became the hosts of the evening.
The red carpet was filled with spectacular thematic dresses. Many images were supplemented with handmade headgear. For example, Rihanna appeared in the Catholic miter, and Solange Knowles had a halo above his head. Amal Clooney appeared in a dress of design by Richard Quinn, who launched his brand in London two years ago (by the way, Elizabeth II came to his show last season). Actress and scriptwriter Lina Waite chose a tuxedo and a rainbow cassock for the red carpet in support of the LGBTK community.
As well as at the Oscar ceremony, the red line of the Costume Institute ball is considered a great place to show feelings. Rap performer Tawheed Epps, better known as 2 Chainz, even made an offer to his girlfriend Natasha Ward right on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum.
