INTERVIEW. Marina Rybalko: “Pictorial art is an integral part of my collections”.
I have been watching the work of Ukrainian designer Marina Rybalko for a long time. Ever since then, when a model with a large white dog appeared at the stage, I realized, that we have with Marina not only similar tastes in clothing, we also share a love for animals. Then I immediately ran to the workshop “KOMOORA” outside Kropivnitskogo 12 Street and bought a wonderful coat! In collection and paintings by RYBALKO feels hallmark of the artist, that reads at once. Marina agreed to talk with the editor-in-chief of Chronicle Blog, and talked about the new collection, paintings and inspiration.
Do you remember your first sewn thing?
I don’t think, that when I was sewing the first thing, I was thinking about the fact of its great importance. It was in a very early age. But I remember the first collection, which was showed on the podium. That were the first firm steps, that demonstrated my work.
Marina, you’ve recently became a mother. Does your daughter inspire you for new achievements in the work?
Oh no) the child requires attention only to itself) seems strange even to think, that children inspire to work. Because on the subconscious level, they want parents spend time only with them.
Tell me about your new collection S/S’16. Was the preparation for the show complicated? Are you satisfied with the result?
Preparation was very complicated. I started it last winter. Drew once, when had a free moment. At the same time I was preparing two collections: A/W and S/S 2016. In the last collection I used a new for myself technique – art embroidery. I think, results of all experiments are successful. I’m pleased with the result and the color reproduction. The collection was very soft and light.
In previous interview, you said that the use of skin – is taboo. What are the fabrics you prefer to work with?
I work with natural materials, but not so much that would use skin and fur. It is taboo for me. Everything is simple, cotton is the main component of this collection and chiffon.
I counted at least 6 of your personal art exhibitions. When will be the next?
Pictorial art is an integral part of my collections. Material is drawn, so that it seems to me, I can put aside the paints for at least one season)
What do you think about the fashion industry in Ukraine? Is it difficult for young designer to present his collection and to establish itself in the market?
I think talking about fashion in Ukraine in this way is groundless. There is no industry. So, in any case, it is hard. Just a few designers, which acan be the face of fashion in Ukraine and the starting point for all, and to call all that ‘industry’, there should be more designers. than the fingers on one hand.
