Previously, the H & M brand refused to use the mohair of African producers. At the same time, many brands of mass-markets, including Zara, Gap and other brands, previously used mohair from African producers. H & M were the first to abandon their services. The reason for the termination of the agreements was unethical behavior of farmers, which was described by the animal protection organization PETA.
The application is attached proofs – videos that show how the farm workers are cruelly treating Angora goats when they cut hair and not only. For example, there are shots on which workers drag animals, applying brute force to them, which in some cases led to their sudden death.
A lot of brands have already abandoned the mohair, and Swedish mass-market H & M plans to do it in 2020. Gap, Zara, Topshop stated that they would stop using mohair in the near future. Which manufacturer will serve as a replacement, while it remains unknown. As well as whether H & M will even use mohair in the future.
