Fashion Week in New York: Calvin Klein, Tom Ford
Raf Simons continues to experiment in his collections for Calvin Klein. Last season on the podium, you could see cowboy boots and jeans, in the spring he added a layering. And the new motifs included the prints of Andy Warhol and Dennis Hopper in the style of pop. Fans and images from horror films completed the motif of the collection.
Raf Simons noted that he was always attracted to film and television. And he calls the “Game of Thrones” a real obsession. The fact that the designer sees in mass culture a sense of freedom, which, in his opinion, today is so lacking.
“Fashion has far exceeded the expectations of the audience,” – Raf Simons commented on the new collection.
The designer noted that modern culture, in particular, television does not have enough risk. Therefore, in the new collection, he added it in the form of “strange things.”
He can give Hollywood too many credit card sales, there is an overflow of superheroes, blah blah blah, but he has a point in fashion, Insufficient risk. Then the project of Simons covered this risk and did strange things, maybe even not that. Even with their Warhol footprints, these clean nightgowns do not exactly describe the summer blockbuster. Also rubber rubber Hitchcock blondes is not divided. But Simons gets a loan for provocation.
“American horror, American dreams,” – described the main theme of the collection of Raf Simons.
On the podium, you could see silhouettes from the 1950s from waterproof nylon, raincoats, lush skirts and silk blouses.
Invitations to the first New York show of Tom Ford came with the bottle of his latest fragrance, Fucking Fabulous. In the spring collection, the designer decided to continue the theme of last year, using elements of a man’s suit.
In the collection you could see women’s jackets with huge shoulders, decorated with pink velvet. Knitted sweaters, body, sports body made of shiny fabric returned in the 90’s and glam-rock era. Leather trousers and shortened sports pants complemented the images. Not without masculine suits. They were given feminine shiny fabrics and velvet. Images from denim were presented in the form of overalls, sconces and jeans with high waist.
