Alexander McQueen and Comme des Garçons SS’18
At Men’s Fashion Week in Paris, the British brand Alexander McQueen introduced a new collection. In this season, Rudyard Kipling’s stories about India became a source of inspiration for the new line. Sarah Burton studied the rich and exotic heritage of this country and successfully showed it in a fashionable interpretation.
The collection included jackets with white collars, leather things, Indian mannies, jackets, coats, coats of wool. Among the accessories were presented ethnic pendants.
“Decor, reminiscent of the patchwork technique, and embroidery in the form of lines from the poems of Kipling also refer to Indian motives.”
Comme des Garçons
A fabulous mood and a magical atmosphere created the brand Comme des Garçons at Men’s Fashion Week. Ray Kawakubo, creative director of the brand, wanted to say that in ordinary life there is not enough color and fun. Life around is becoming routine, so, in his opinion, creativity should be added. As a podium, the dance floor was organized, and the models turned into party people for the evening.
The new collection includes oversize t-shirts, elongated jackets, short trousers that are decorated with animalistic prints, fur, paillettes. Idleness was added by soft toys and bright pieces of cloth on clothes.
“The jackets became the main field for the impulse of creativity. Without the base jackets, the designer imposes fur, sews soft toys and contrasting bright inserts from different fabrics. The changes have touched and cut: Kawakubo recalls its cultural heritage and presents bathrobes made of silk with wide sleeves,” – noted critics .
