A new documentary about Manolo Blahnik
September 15 in New York will be premiere of a new documentary about Manolo Blahnik.
The painting is called «Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards». The author of the documentary is Michael Roberts. A romantic name can be translated literally. As a child, the future designer dreamed of creating from candy wraps shoes for lizards. In the end, after many years, Manolo Blahnik did it.
As expected, in the documentary, everyone will play themselves. The 74-year-old designer will tell about his work, secrets and tricks of shoe business. The designer will tell you where he is looking for inspiration, how to follow fashion trends. Manolo Blahnik is not far behind Tommy Hilfiger, Burberry, Tom Ford, who switched to the new concept of sales See now – buy now. The designer came up with his own system – now he will represent his shoes only once a year. All collections: winter, spring, summer, fall — were shown in January 2017.
The plot of the documentary will be built around the interview. About Manolo Blahnik will tell Anna Wintour, Rihanna, with whom the designer released more than one collection, Kendis Bushnell, director of the famous series «Sex and the City», whose main character adored shoes from Manolo Blahnik, Charlotte Olympia, David Bailey, Iman and Naomi Campbell.
«I do not remember when I last wore anything other than Manolo Blahnik. I do not even look in stores for other shoes», — says Anna Wintour in the film.
«He is the king of shoes», — notes Naomi Campbell.
«I hope that people will go see this documentary to learn something about another person who does what he loves and people can just be inspired by it. I want to show a clear picture. In fact, this is the only reason. I’m very pleased, and I really enjoyed doing what I’m doing, so I’m glad that this film shows it», — says Manolo Blahnik.
The documentary will not be the only big project by Manolo Blahnik this year. The designer is developing an exposition, which will include more than 500 of his products. The exhibition will be presented in Venice, Prague and St. Petersburg.
