Teenagers named the most popular social network
The Pew Research Center has published a study according to which teenagers are more interested in the YouTube platform than ever before. 85% of the interviewed adolescents aged 13 to 17 reported that they use YouTube. Next are the Social Networks Instagram (72%) and Snapchat (69%).
A study by Pew shows that in recent years teenagers are spending less and less time on Facebook. In the report for 2015, 71% of young people considered themselves users of facebook, today their number has decreased to 51%. “All teenagers use similar social platforms,” the researchers say, “but we noticed that young people from families with lower incomes are more likely to use facebook than their peers from wealthy families.”
The report also mentions that the number of teenagers who have smartphones has grown as never before – 95% compared to 73% in 2015. 45% of the interviewed teenagers said that they are almost always available online. The authors of the study draw attention to the fact that all teenagers responded differently to the question about the influence of social networks on their lives. But as a whole noted that this influence is positive, emphasizing that social networks help to be always in touch. The least popular among young people are platforms such as Twitter (32%), Tumblr (9%) and Reddit (7%).
